Some sad news surfaced in the NBA world surfaced on Monday morning, as it was reported on ESPN’s “Mike and Mike in the Morning” that Dr. Jack Ramsay has passed away at the age of 89. According to the report, Ramsay passed away in his sleep.

Ramsay, one of the most well-respected men in basketball, was a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He is most widely known for his work as a broadcaster on ESPN, and winning the 1977 NBA title with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Ramsay finished his coaching career with a record of 864-783 (453-367 with the Blazers).

Earlier this season, Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts honored Ramsay by wearing an old school plaid jacket.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ramsay family as they deal with their difficult loss.
