The LSU Tigers received a bit of disappointing news on Monday.
According to Jim Kleinpeter of NOLA.com and The New Orleans Times-Picayune, LSU defensive lineman Frank Herron was arrested for stealing a bicycle.
The bicycle was reported stolen Wednesday around noon from a bike rack near the Huey P. Long Fieldhouse, Lalonde said. The victim notified police Monday that he saw someone riding what he thought was the stolen bike near the Cox Center for Academics.
Officers did not believe the person riding the bicycle knew it was stolen and on further investigation, identified Herron as a possible suspect. Herron admitted to the theft during interrogation by officers and was arrested about 1:30 p.m.. Theft of property valued below $500 is considered a misdemeanor and above $500 a felony, Lalonde said.
LSU release statement from head coach Les Miles saying “Frank was very sorry and knew he made a mistake.”
Herron was considered a 4-star defensive end when he signed with the Tigers in 2013 and he took a redshirt last season.
