Meet Hoop Tracker

A new piece of technology is aiming to help basketball players understand better what they are good at, and what they aren’t so good at.

Hoop Tracker is a smartwatch that is designed for basketball players to keep a record of their progress and shot percentage. Using a magnetic basket-mounted shot detector and the watch itself, Hoop Tracker will record a player’s performance on the court. From overall shots missed and made to a player’s total point worth, Hoop Tracker will allow users to successful track their performance as a way to help train and get better on the hardwood.

The watch won’t track air balls, so users must manually enter air balls via a button on the side of the watch. Data that is recorded on the watch can be then uploaded to the Hoop Tracker websites where athletes are then able to compare and contrast past practices as well as view their total statistics.

The program even includes different types of challenges to help motivate players to improve their performance. From free throw competitions to three point shootouts, there are a number of different contests players can perform in. They will then be able to share their results with friends via social media.

The watch can either be worn while playing, or left on the sideline. As long as it’s in range of the mounted tracker, the data will be recorded.
