To say that the Seattle Mariners have been struggling lately could be construed as an understatement.
Their 10-14 record is more a factor of their bullpen and lack of offense, but a boost to their rotation wouldn’t be a terrible thing. Seattle looks to add just that when Hisashi Iwakuma rejoins the team. Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune says that there is a strong likelihood of the third-place Cy Young pitcher to come back to the club on Friday.
Iwakuma would pitch against the Astros on Friday and could replace Brandon Maurer in the rotation. Iwakuma has been on the DL since the beginning of the season after sustaining a strained tendon in a finger on his pitching hand.
