According to a report from the CBS affiliate in New Orleans, former LSU Tigers defensive end Jordan Allen has opted to transfer to the Arizona Wildcats this season, where he will be eligible to play immediately.

Allen announced earlier this month that he would be leaving Baton Rouge, not really citing any specific reason, just noting that he would be available to anyone outside of the SEC and anyone who was not on the Tigers’ out-of-conference schedule.

“I’m free to talk with whoever I want who is not in the SEC and is not (on LSU’s out of conference schedule),” Allen told Tigerrag.com. “That’s whatever, that’s OK. That’s pretty much where I’m at right now. Now I’m able to talk to some of them.”

While the reason was undisclosed at the time, Allen did lose his starting job in 2013 to redshirt freshman Danielle Hunter after missing the majority of the 2012 campaign with a knee injury.

Allen did play in all 13 games last season where he recorded 16 tackles with two sacks.

Shortly after the news broke, Allen explained briefly how being in Arizona with Rich Rodriguez and company is a great, all-around fit.

Arizona could certainly utilize Allen on the defensive line immediately this year, and they may have gotten themselves a steal in Allen.
