NBA rumors: Knicks, Steve Kerr working to finalize deal

Former NBA player and current TNT analyst Steve Kerr has been considered the favorite to land the New York Knicks coaching gig since before Mike Woodson was fired, and now he is reportedly one step closer from officially stepping into that role.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, the Knicks and Kerr are working to finalize a deal that would make him the team’s next head coach following the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

If Kerr does become the Knicks next head coach, it would come as a shock to no one.

There were some reports that Kerr could prefer joining a team in the Western Conference and that he was looking to keep all options open before committing to joining a team’s coaching staff, but it looks like the opportunity to work with Phil Jackson and the Knicks may just be too good to pass up and we could see a deal finalized in the coming days.
