The Arizona Cardinals are looking to lock down cornerback Patrick Peterson with a big contract negotiation. Though contract negotiations between the Cardinals and Peterson’s agent, Joel Segal, haven’t begun yet.

From AZ Central:

"While the Cardinals would like to reach a contract agreement with Peterson this off-season, they are not believed to be in serious negotiations with Segal yet. It’s not unusual for such deals to be reached in the summer or shortly before the season starts. In past years, the Cardinals have wanted to get through training camp to see exactly where they were against the cap before re-signing players."

Peterson could be waiting to see what the Seattle Seahawks work out with cornerback Richard Sherman, and use that as a model or measuring stick for his own deal. It could be more than $10 million annually.
