Miguel Olivo might finally get a chance at some regular playing time on a Major League team.
Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers are bringing up the 35-year old veteran catcher from Triple-A, switching places with Tim Federowicz. Olivo gained some notoriety last season when he demanded his release from the Miami Marlins, citing his unhappiness with the club and his role in it. The Marlins did not give Olivo his release and instead placed him on the restricted list.
The team also transferred pitcher Chad Billingsley to the 60-day disabled list. Reliever Paco Rodriguez was also recalled by the team and utility infielder Carlos Triunfel was optioned to Triple-A. Triunfel had been brought up as insurance for Hanley Ramirez. Rodriguez brings the pitcher count for the Dodgers up to 13 again.
