Florida State redshirt sophomore quarterback Jameis Winston was reportedly cited by police for stealing crab legs from a local Publix in news that was announced on Wednesday morning. He was later suspended from the baseball team and issued a fine of $30.
However, the legal ramifications aren’t all that the reigning Heisman winner is facing. No, of course as with anything notable that involves him, the internet is completely abuzz with their hot takes on the issue, and that apparently does not exclude government officials, neither.
Not long after the news broke, that state of Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture, Adam Putnam, tweeted out this gem below:
Everyone loves #FreshFromFlorida crab legs.

Alright, that one was pretty funny, but it also just goes to show how high-profile of an entity Winston is in the sports world.
There will be no further punishment issued to the Heisman winner other than what was mentioned above, although the Leon County Sheriff’s Office has announced they will be holding a news conference at 2 PM ET on Wednesday to address the event.
