An interactive film created by a marine-wear company that simulates what it’s like to drown is making the waves on the Internet. Guy Cotton, the company responsible for the film, made Sortie en Mer (A Trip Out to Sea) as a way to promote its line of life jackets.
In the film, two characters are on a boat in the middle of the ocean. One gets knocked into the water, and it’s up to you to try and keep them afloat by scrolling up with your mouse wheel as fast as possible. Failing to do so will cause the man to drown. It’s creepy, but it gets the point across that a life jacket is crucial when out on the water.
