NBA Rumors: Chicago Bulls’ Derrick Rose takes knee contact
With a 75-69 loss to the Washington Wizards in game 5 Tuesday night, the Chicago Bulls were eliminated by the Wizards in five games.
For the third straight postseason (outside of game 1 of their first round series with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2012), the Bulls were without former MVP point guard Derrick Rose, who once again was forced to have knee surgery.
After defeating the Brooklyn Nets in the first round in the 2013 playoffs, many thought the Bulls could duplicate that performance, but their offensive issues came to the forefront and showed just how badly they miss their star.
According to K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune, Rose took contact on his knee for the first time Tuesday.
"Derrick Rose took contact on his surgically repaired right knee for the first time Monday, the Bulls said, playing one-on-one against Mike James.Rose has suffered no setbacks during his rehabilitation from having his meniscus repaired in late November and remains on track to participate in Team USA’s minicamp in Las Vegas in late July for the FIBA World Cup team."
Rose averaged 15.9 points, 4.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game in 10 games this season.
