NBA Rumors: D.J. Augustin wants to return to Chicago Bulls next season
By Josh Hill
The Chicago Bulls may be out of the postseason but they’re just getting started with their offseason of potential change. Just like all previous offseasons it seems, the Bulls are about to go through some major changes to the roster as Carlos Boozer is likely gone and Nikola Mirotic is heading over from Spain. There’s also the matter of Derrick Rose to watch out for, but he’s not the only point guard on the Bulls brain at the moment.
After Rose’s noodle knees gave out on him again, the Bulls picked up D.J. Augustin who finally flourished in the right role with the right team. As a result, he’s expressed a willingness to return in 2014 knowing full well that Rose is the team’s starting guard.
“I definitely love it here. I definitely would love to be back here,” Augustin said, via Mark McGraw. “But right now, I’m just trying to get over this game.”
The price needs to be right on Augustin as his 2013-14 season of redemption is going to get him some nice offers in free agency. What fans want to know is will the front office do something it’s shown an unwillingness to do in recent years and pay a little extra to bring back a key player or will Augustin be allowed to walk?
