Nintendo has — completely out of the blue — published a brand new Nintendo Direct video that is focused solely on Mario Kart 8. The video showcases the game’s gameplay, characters and items, among other things.

One of the major details revealed in the video was the upcoming release of a Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle. For $329, players will receive a Wii U Deluxe Set system, a copy of Mario Kart 8, a red Mario Wii Wheel accessory and a red Mario Wii Remote Plus controller. Players who also register their copy of the game between May 30 and July 31 will also receive a free Nintendo eShop download code for an additional game from a list including all the games in the image below.

The video also confirmed that Mario Kart 8 will feature 12-player multiplayer racing that can be done in four different game modes. Players will also be able to chat with one another in the pre-race lobby via the Wii U GamePad microphone. Public and private tournaments are also available for users to create.

Mario Kart TV is a new feature coming to the series that will allow players to watch highlights of their best, and worst, racing moments. Players who have Google accounts will be able to upload their highlights directly to YouTube.

In addition to two new characters — Pink Gold Peach and Baby Rosalina — making their series debut, a plethora of new items are coming to the game as well. From a new Super Horn that sends a shock wave to opponents to a new “crazy eight” item that features eight items circling the driver, Mario Kart 8 will have no shortage of items to sabotage your opponents chances of winning the big race.

Mario Kart 8 launches on May 30 for Wii U.
