The 2013-2014 basketball season was a roller coaster ride for the Oklahoma State Cowboys basketball program, and although there have been a couple of high-profile defections, the off-season saw its first “bump in the road” on Monday morning. A report from the Tulsa World brings the specifics on an issue regarding star forward Le’Bryan Nash:
Oklahoma State basketball player Le’Bryan Nash was arrested Monday morning following a routine traffic stop by campus police, the Stillwater Police Department confirmed Tuesday.
OSU police officers pulled Nash over for speeding around 9:45 a.m. Monday, and called Stillwater police officers after realizing Nash had an outstanding municipal warrant, also for speeding, Stillwater Capt. Randy Dickerson said. Nash was transported to the Stillwater City Jail and posted bond there later Monday, Dickerson said.
Of all things to be arrested for, this is fairly low on the list, but it is never a good thing to see your best returning player in this type of predicament. Nash averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds last season as a junior, and with Marcus Smart headed for the NBA, he is presumably the go-to guy for the 2014-2015 season.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Nash given a suspension for this type of behavior, but unless something goes awry, it will likely be a short absence that won’t exclude him from having a big year.
