Better Call Saul casts SNL actor Michael McKean in major role

We are just months away from the series premiere of the much anticipated Breaking Bad spinoff series Better Call Saul and the cast of the show continues to grow. Despite all the names we’ve heard added to the cast, there are characters that have yet to find actors to play them, but one new character will be tapping into the comedic and dramatic talents of a former SNL cast member.

According to Deadline, This Is Spinal Tap actor Micheal McKean has been cast as Dr. Thurber, who is a brilliant attorney now restricted by an unusual affliction and someone we can see working either alongside or against Saul Goodman.

Bob Odenkirk will be returning to the series as Saul with Johnathan Banks returning as fan favorite Mike Ehrmantraut, Saul’s right hand man. Obviously, if you watched Breaking Bad, you know that Mike can’t have a future beyond that series so his inclusion as a regular character further confirms a lot of the series will take place either before or during the events of Breaking Bad.

It will be interesting to see how the original show is worked into the new series and so far just about every casting move we’ve heard announced has been of an actor we can see fitting into the sleazy world Saul Goodman operates best in.
