With all the weather issues and double-headers, lining up your starting pitching for fantasy baseball this week has been extremely difficult to absolutely impossible. If you’re coming into Friday’s jam-packed, 15-game schedule in need of a starting pitching pickup, check out these four possibilities who are widely available before their scheduled outing.
Whenever you’re in the market for starting pitcher, check my daily post here on Fansided (archive here where you can also set a bookmark for the daily updates). You can also see how my past picks have fared on the final slide of the post. All of my choices are available in at least half of ESPN leagues, and their ownership percentage is included in parentheses. For each selection, I also include my perspective of the risk and reward for the scheduled start on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the highest risk and the highest reward.
Here’s the ones to watch for Friday:
Wily Peralta-Milwaukee Brewers (47.8%)
Peralta just squeezes under the threshold for Friday’s outing against the Reds as he and Milwaukee look to continue their successful start to the season. Peralta had a great April going 3-1 with a 2.56 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP.
His only loss of the month came in his last trip to the mound where he took a tough-luck loss allowing three runs in seven innings but getting no run support. He hasn’t allowed more than three runs in any start this season and has pitched at least into the seventh in each of his last four outings. He and the Brew-crew are in Cincinnati where he’ll make his first start of the year against Cincinnati who he faced five times last year with mixed results.
