Hisashi Iwakuma will finally rejoin the Seattle Mariners on Saturday, making his season debut against the Houston Astros.
According to MLB.com’s Greg Johns, there has not been an announcement yet, but Iwakuma’s appearance is imminent.
Iwakuma originally sprained a tendon in his finger prior to the start of the season.
Iwakuma was had an ERA of 2.66 (140 ERA+) and a K/BB ratio of 4.40 in 219 2/3 innings of work during the 2013 season. The extraordinary play resulted in him being third in the running for the AL Cy Young award.
The Mariners disable list will now consist of James Paxton, Taijuan Walker and Blake Beavan.
