Joel Quenneville on the Minnesota Wild: ‘It’s definitely a different team’

The Chicago Blackhawks fell behind the St. Louis Blues 2-0 in their first round series. Both were dramatic overtime losses. With seemingly no momentum to speak of, all the Blackhawks did from there was win four games in a row in the true spirit of NHL tournament craziness.

With some time to rest, the Blackhawks were able to keep their eyes on the dramatic seven game series between the Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild. And what they saw in their second round opponent, the Wild, is a different team than the one that struggled to make the playoffs this season.

Head coach Joel Quenneville had the following to say about the Wild (quotes from CSN Chicago):

It is definitely a different team. You’ve got to commend them on how they played at the end of the year to get themselves in the playoffs. Had a great run and had a lot of momentum going into that series, and they played a great series. You watch them last night. They played very structured, very solid game.”

So how do the defending Cup champion Blackhawks and Wild match up in round 2? Here’s more from Sports Illustrated‘s Brian Cazeneuve:

The Blackhawks and the Wild kick off their second round series Friday night in Chicago.
