After Derrick Rose went down again, the Bulls dind’t have much behind Kirk Hinrich at point guard.

However, the team acquired D.J. Augustin from the Toronto Raptors and he went on to have a very solid season for the Bulls, averaging 13.1 points, 4.4 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game on the year.

Both he and Hinrich will become free agents in July and it is assumed only one, if any, will be back.

Augustin has made it clear he would like to return to the Bulls and the team has said they would like him to return.

“The meetings were good. We had a chance to talk and look back on the season,” Augustin told Adam Fluck of Bulls.com. “They told me that they wanted me back. And I really want to be back so we’ll see how everything works out.

“They gave me an opportunity, and I definitely owe them a lot,” Augustin added of the Bulls. “It’s not always about the money. It’s where you feel comfortable or where you fit in. I definitely want to be here, and hopefully everything works out.”

In the postseason, Augustin averaged 13.2 points, 4.8 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game.
