After sitting out the entire 2013-2014 season, defenseman Tom Poty has retired from the NHL after 14 seasons.
The 37-year-old Poti played in 824 career games with the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, New York Islanders and Washington Captials. Poti was an All-Star in 2003, and helped the United States win silver at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
“I was very fortunate to play in the National Hockey League for 14 years,” said Poti. “It was a dream come true and I had an awesome ride and met so many great people along the way. I’d like to thank my family and my wife and children for all their love and support.”
