The NFL future of former first round draft pick Justin Blackmon is bleak at best, as the team who took a chance on him coming out of Oklahoma State a few years ago are dangerously close to cutting the cord. While Blackmon remains on the Jaguars roster for now, the team said on Friday they’d be relatively surprised if he plays in 2014.

This is bad news for Blackmon, who is already enduring another suspension in his short NFL career, and it’s sounding like the Jaguars are losing patience as quickly as they’re losing interest in keeping him around. They’ve done the latter though, as he’s yet to be cut loose.

Still, when the general manager is saying he is of little faith that you’ll be playing at all this upcoming season, that doesn’t bode well for Blackmon’s future not only in Jacksonville but around the league as well.
