Northwestern football recruiting: 3-star DT Jordan Thompson commits to Wildcats

The Northwestern Wildcats have been on a recruiting roll as of late and on Friday, they landed their ninth verbal commitment.

3-star defensive tackle Jordan Thompson joined 4-star wide receiver David Dowell, his twin brother, 4-star running back Andrew Dowell, 3-star defensive end Joe Gaziano, 3-star outside linebacker Tommy Vitale, 3-star inside linebacker Nathan Fox, 3-star defensive end Zach Allen, 3-star running back John Moten and 2-star defensive end Trent Goens.

The 6’3, 250-pounder is from Cincinnati, Ohio and attends LaSalle High School.

Mike Dyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer broke the news.

Thompson is ranked as the country’s 42nd-best defensive tackle prospect, the 33rd-best overall prospect in the state of Ohio and the 747th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Thompson visited Northwestern earlier in April and enjoyed himself, but after picking up an offer from the Notre Dame Irish last week, many thought South Bend would be his destination. Instead, Thompson chose the Wildcats over offers from the Irish, Boston College Eagles, Cincinnati Bearcats and Boston College Eagles, among others.
