Angels place David Freese on 15-day disabled list

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pulled off a huge trade during the off-season that involved former World Series MVP David Freese who was a member of the St. Louis Cardinals at the time.

That was a trade that I followed from start to finish, because I assumed that Freese was a franchise player. Apparently not. Now with Freese playing in his first season as a member of the Angels, things have gotten off to a rocky start.

Freese is currently hitting .202/.266/.286 with two home runs and eight RBI’s but has struck out 27 times in 24 games. During an at-bat against the Texas Rangers, Freese was hit by a pitch on his right hand. It was originally announced that it was a bruised middle finger but it turns out that he has a non-displaced fracture.

With this being announced, Freese will be moved to the 15-day disabled list. The Angels recalled infielder Luis Jimenez who will get the stat tonight, but Freese feels he will be ready to go once the 15 days is up.
