The Dallas Mavericks were able to force a Game 7 against the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the 2014 NBA playoffs. They almost let the game slip away in the final moments of the game, but were able to hang on and not without costs. Mavericks point guard Jose Calderon broke his nose during the second half after colliding with Spurs guard Tony Parker according to ESPN Dallas.

“It was a little tough to breathe in the second half,” said Calderon. “That’s why I asked for a sub, because I couldn’t breathe out there.

“I hope I’m better in Game 7. I think we were trying to stop the bleeding, so there was a lot of stuff up my nose. I think it was that more than anything else with the breathing.”

Calderon could be required to wear a protective mask in Sunday’s Game 7.
