The NCAA is not the most popular organization on the planet, this goes without saying, and many famous names have delivered their shots in the past. Now, a Hall of Famer and someone who many consider to be the greatest running back of all time, Jim Brown, is weighing in with his thoughts, and he’s not holding back whatsoever.
“The NCAA is probably the most reprehensible organization God ever created,” the Hall of Fame running back said at a roundtable discussion on the NFL with Barry Sanders and Harson Carson on his right and host Larry King on his left via ESPN.com. “Total exploitation. The kind of money they make, the kind of life they live, it’s embarrassing.”
Brown then took things a step further by stating that the entire structure needs to be gutted and put back together again.
“I’m totally for change and total change,” Brown said. “And I think that body needs to be torn apart and put back together with everybody’s best interests in mind.”
The former Browns running back then went on to say that he made the wording so harsh because he’s welcoming a response from the NCAA, showing that he feels just as strongly about the matters as most other people do, if not more in some cases.
As the years go on, the complaints against the NCAA continue to grow and it almost seems as if the whole situation is just a ticking time bomb just ready to explode at any moment. Not even the recent announcement of an unlimited meal plan did much to calm the angry mob, seeing as they all feel that this is something that should have been put in place already.
