MLB Fan Cave releases epic Star Wars Day video, 'The Empire Strikes Out' (Video)

Major League Baseball and Star Wars. Two American institutions that come together at the beginning of every May to celebrate Star Wars Day.

If you’re not familiar with the phenomenon, the day is celebrated by nerds and fanboys worldwide as a play on words for the date, May the 4th…hence, “May the fourth be with you”.

Cheezy? Yes, but still more fun than a barrel of midichlorians.

The MLB Fan Cave decided to have a little fun with the tradition, and give us some of our favorite hitters donning light sabers in place of bats, complete with sound effects and John Williams score.

Check out the epic, “The Empire Strikes Out”  (The puns just never end).

Looks like Pirates slugger Andrew McCutchen has finally found a foolproof way of getting dirt clods from inside his spikes. And just who is that Cleveland Indian who so gracefully twirled Darth Maul’s double-sided light saber?

And Felix Hernandez…a Sith?

Dark times indeed in Seattle.
