The Chicago Bulls are expected to be one of the top contenders to sign New York Knicks’ star forward Carmelo Anthony should he decide to opt out of the final year of his contract, which nearly everyone expects him to do.

The Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers are also expected to show heavy interest in Anthony.

The Lakers are also very interested in Chicago Bulls’ head coach Tom Thibodeau. The Bulls, however, likely won’t grant the Lakers permission to interview Thibodeau and Thibodeau has shown no signs of wanting to leave and is even reportedly recruiting Anthony to Chicago.

Of course, that won’t stop the speculation.

David Haugh of The Chicago Tribune wonders if Anthony and Thibodeau could team up with the Lakers.

Both Anthony and Thibodeau share the same agency, Creative Arts Agency, which is what Haugh bases his theory on.

It seems like a long shot, but with the Lakers and their knack for acquiring star players, nothing should be ruled out.
