The Oakland Athletics made a couple roster moves today that featured former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Nick Buss.
According to MLB.com’s Jane Lee, the Athletics claimed Buss of Waivers from the Dodgers and have optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento.

Buss is a 27 year old right-handed hitter who is currently hitting .261/.330/.391 across the line with Triple-A Albuquerque. Last season he finished the year with a solid batting line of .303/.363/.525 at the same level. With Buss being added to the 40-man roster, the Athletics have placed pitcher A.J. Griffin on the 60-day disabled list.
Griffin underwent Tommy John surgery and will not be able to pitch for the team this season. So it makes sense that they remove Griffin off the 40-man roster in order to make room for Buss or any player who needs to be added.
The Dodgers designated Buss for assignment on Thursday.
