Former Chicago Cubs/Cincinnati Reds outfielder Dave Sappelt has finally found himself a brand new ball club. No, not in the United States, but in Mexico.

A professional baseball team is a professional baseball team. Either way he’s getting paid. Now according to Chris Cotillo on Twitter, Sappelt signed with the Acereros de Monclova. The only titles they have under their belt is a division championship back in 1998. They haven’t necessarily done much since.

Sappelt was designated for assignment by the Chicago Cubs late last season after he was optioned to the Iowa Cubs in May of 2013. He later signed with the Philadelphia Phillies on December 18 and was invited to Spring Training.

He was apart of the trade that sent Travis Wood to the Cubs for reliever Sean Marshall. A trade that I still have mixed feelings about considering how loved Marshall was in Chicago.

Best of luck to Sappelt in Mexico.
