Josh Thomson calls out Nick Diaz, then says his phone was stolen

UFC Lightweight Josh Thomson contemplated retirement after losing to Benson Henderson in a controversial decision back in January. The retirement talk has since died down and now Thomson wants to get back inside the Octagon as soon as possible.

Thomson, who is still recovering from a broken thumb he incurred during his fight with Henderson, took to Twitter to call out none other than the retired Welterweight, Nick Diaz:

I knocked out your brother, I’ll knock ur b—- a– out in San Jose July 26th.Let’s do it B—-, San Jose vs Stockon. Yup, F— U NICK DIAZ!

It was a strange call out fueled with vitriol for seemingly no reason. Why would a Lightweight call out a retired Welterweight? It simply made no sense.

Well apparently the reason why it made no sense is because Thomson says he never actually tweeted the call out to Diaz:

Evidently someone stole Thomson’s phone while he was at dinner in hopes of starting a new twitter beef. In reality, the fight would have never happened anyhow. Diaz has stated multiple times that he will only return for the right amount of money and a Welterweight title shot. Fighting a Lightweight that defeated his brother is not something Diaz is interested in.
