Let’s just say that the Oklahoma City Thunder did not get off to the kind of start they envisioned against the Los Angeles Clippers. It seems safe to assume that they did not envision a near-20 point halftime deficit in game one in their own building.
A key match-up to watch in this series is at the point guard position: Chris Paul is banged up and coming off a series in which he bullied Stephen Curry physically on the defensive end. Interestingly enough, Russell Westbrook has enjoyed some success in his career against Paul. Whoever prevails in that match-up will likely indicate the winner of the series.
Paul charged out to start the opening game, dropping 22 points in the first half. Westbrook had 16 of his own, however, including this nice finish at the rim.
In what looks like it might be a long series, these point guards will have a lot of say in the outcome as they try to dictate the tone of each game.
