WWE RAW results, May 5: Evolution leaves the Shield laying; Sheamus wins United States title

After a very eventful Extreme Rules special event, the fallout from the show will take place on Monday’s edition of RAW which will emanate live from the Times Union Center in Albany, New York.

Sunday night at Extreme Rules, there were some interesting turns in some of the main storylines that are currently being played out on television.

In what was most certainly the match of the night, the Shield ultimately ended up defeating Evolution, with Roman Reigns getting the pinfall on Batista in the middle of the ring while the other participants battled it out. Aside from this being the bout of the night, Seth Rollins provided the unquestioned spot of the night.

Following that, John Cena and Bray Wyatt hit the ring for their cage match, and in the end it was Wyatt who walked away with the win, thanks to the utilization of a very creepy young man that distracted Cena and allowed Wyatt to pick up the win.

And in the main event of the night, in his first title defense since his epic win at WrestleMania, Daniel Bryan picked up the huge win over Kane in their Extreme Rules match after cleverly hoisting Kane onto a forklift and driving him from the backstage area to the ring.

Oh yeah, and there was a table on fire too…

All of the fallout from these and more will happen live on RAW, beginning with the pre-show on the WWE Network at 7:30 PM ET. Then at 8 PM ET, as always, check back here at this link for live, updated results and GIFs as they happen in real time below:

Disclaimer:  A few eliminations were missed during commercial break.

Winner and NEW United States Champion: Sheamus

Following the match with a dejected Ambrose in the ring, HHH comes out. He says the Shield were extremely lucky. Since Ambrose just lost, it looks like their luck is changing. He says that the Shield will face off against the Wyatt Family tonight.

Back from commercial, Sheamus is with Renee Young backstage. He says tonight was the perfect time for him to return to glory.

Another backstage segment airs with Daniel Bryan and Stephanie McMahon. She congratulates Bryan, but says all he did was anger Kane. She tells Bryan to stay in his locker room for the rest of the night.

Rob Van Dam vs. Cesaro

RVD is out first followed by Paul Heyman to make his usual introduction of his newest client.

The two lock up in the center of the ring to get it started and trade go-behinds before separating. Eventually Cesaro gets RVD in a headlock and hits a nice backbreaker.

RVD gets the upper hand back and hits a Rolling Thunder. Cesaro hits the outside with Heyman to regroup for a few seconds. When he gets back in the ring, he targets the injured eye of Van Dam. A small Cesaro chant breaks out with the crowd.

After a few minutes, RVD hits an AMAZING moonsault from the apron onto the floor. He rolls Cesaro back into the ring, hits a leg drop but only gets a two-count.

After some more back and forth, Cesaro hits a clothesline to the outside and they go to commercial.

Back from commercial, Cesaro has RVD in another headlock. Both men trade nearfalls, even following RVD taking a vicious uppercut. Cesaro then hits a series of gut wrench suplexes and still can’t get the pin.

RVD gets his legs locked into the turnbuckle and Cesaro hits the outside to pummel him. He won’t stop with the referees count, therefore he gets disqualified.

Winner: RVD via disqualification

A short Bray Wyatt promo airs before commercial.

Bray comes out and cuts a promo in the ring. He says that he became somebody last night by defeating John Cena in the cage match. They cut to highlights of the young child singing to Cena from Sunday night. Wyatt says he wishes to watch the world burn and the world will be reborn in the image of Bray Wyatt.

He ends the promo singing “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” with the crowd joining along.

Ryback vs. Cody Rhodes

Cody gets the match off to a quick start by sending Ryback to the outside early. Eventually, the tables get turned and Ryback gets back on top and works Cody over in the middle of the ring.

Ryback keeps the offense going for a while until Cody gets back into it with some stiff elbow shots, clotheslines and a nice counter.

Rhodes hits the disaster kick but Goldust and Axel go at it on the outside, knocking Cody off the top rope. Ryback takes advantage and gets the win.

Winner: Ryback

Another backstage segment airs with Bryan and Brie Bella still in the locker room. The lights go out out of nowhere and they leave the room. Stephanie catches them in the hallway. She says she’ll have their car brought to them if they want and the show cuts to commercial.

Back from commercial, Los Matadores and El Torito are in the ring and they want to have a Cinco De Mayo celebration. 3MB’s music hits. Heath Slater says you can’t have a party without 3MB, which, yeah, we’re gonna go ahead and call BS on.

A loud USA chant breaks out as 3MB tries to offer a truce. Hornswoggle hits Torito with a cheap shot and they start battling in the ring. Los Matadores tosses Slater over the top. Torito gives an airplane spin to Hornswoggle and knocks him out of the ring to end the segment–thank God.

Back from commercial, a Bo Dallas promo airs.

Kofi Kingston vs. Alexander Rusev

Kofi tries his best to get the big man off his feet, but fails miserably. Rusev then works Kofi Kingston over in the corner. He continues to pummel Kingston, but Kofi gets the boots up in the corner and tries to mount the comeback. Kofi actually keeps up the offense for a little bit until Rusev catches him.

Lana calls for Rusev to crush Kingston, which he eventually does for the win with the camel clutch (I refuse to call it anything else).

Winner: Alexander Rusev

Another backstage segment with Bryan airs. He puts Brie into the passenger seat of the car and looks around. Stephanie knocks on the window of the car, scaring Brie. Steph tells Bryan that he can’t leave until he wrestles, NOW, and if he doesn’t she’s stripping him of the belt.

Daniel Bryan vs. Alberto Del Rio

Bryan gets the upper hand on Del Rio early, working him over in the corner with some kicks before Del Rio turns the tables and starts beating down the champ.

He locks Bryan in a headlock in the middle of the ring before Bryan gets out, but he catches him with a spinning backbreaker. He drapes Bryan’s throat over the rope and takes a seat, applying the pressure.

Bryan gets it around once again and hits some more kicks in the corner, followed by a running knee. After some YES! kicks, Del Rio delivers another backbreaker.

On the outside now, Del Rio tosses Bryan into the barricade and we go to commercial.

Back from commercial, Del Rio is in control in the center of the ring. He goes for the pinfall, but only gets the two count. He goes to work on Bryan in the corner again. They’re doing a good job of making the champ look vulnerable in the ring.

Bryan gets the comeback going when he catches Del Rio coming off the top with a chop to the chest. Back on the outside now, Del Rio tosses Bryan right across the barricade as the ref continues to count.

Inside the ring, Del Rio hits a quick DDT and lowers the knee pad. He misses the kick and Bryan catches him in the back of the head with one of his own. When both men are up, they trade blows in the middle of the ring with Bryan winning that battle.

Now, they’re trading kicks again and Del Rio gets the better of Bryan in the corner.

Del Rio goes for a suplex off the top, but Bryan knocks him from the ropes. The champ hits the flying headbutt, but only gets a two count. Bryan then hits some running kicks in the corner, followed by a suicide dive on the outside.

Back inside now, Del Rio hits an enzigurai onto Bryan but can’t get the three count as Bryan kicks out again. Bryan then hits an amazing counter and locks in the YES Lock and Del Rio taps.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

Following the match, Kane’s pyro hits and Bryan and Brie run to the back. They immediately jump into the car and the car won’t start. Bryan gets out to open the hood up and sees that the wire is cut. When he shuts the hood, Kane is in the backseat of the car. Bryan fights off Kane and gets into the driver’s seat and floors it with Kane still on top of the car. Kane falls off and Bryan walks toward him when Kane sits up! Bryan and Brie speed off to end the segment.

Back from commercial, they recap the Bryan-Kane segment.

Bad News Barrett vs. Big E. (Intercontinental Championship)

Big E. gets on the offensive early on, taking Barrett right to the mat. He then follows that up with a series of backbreakers. The action moves to the outside where Big E. continues to beat down Barrett before eventually tossing him back in the ring before being counted out.

Loud Barrett chants from the crowd.

They move back to the outside where Barrett gets the upper hand this time. When Big E. gets back in the ring, they cut to commercial.

Back live, the two continue to go back and forth with Big E. getting a nice run going, including a belly-to-belly. Barrett gets the momentum back and hits the Winds of Change, but only for a two count.

Barrett winds up for the Bull Hammer, but Big E. ducks. He then spears Barrett onto the floor! He rolls Barrett back into the ring but can’t get the three. He continues to pound Barrett with suplexes.

He goes for the Big Ending but Barrett escapes, hits the Bull Hammer and gets the win.

Winner and STILL Intercontinental Champion: Wade Barrett

Back from commercial, the give a special Mother’s Day message with highlights from the Mr. T. Hall of Fame speech. Awesome.

Colter and Swagger get in the ring and Zeb cuts a promo on Cinco de Mayo. He has a deportation list with Cesaro, Heyman, Emma, Santino, Sheamus and Paige on it.

He’s cut off by the debut of Adam Rose.

Rose gets in the ring and tells Colter to be a Rosebud. He then tosses Swagger out of the ring and Rose dances with the Rosebuds in the ring.

Wyatt Family vs. The Shield

The brawl gets started quick with all six men and it eventually spills to the outside. Ambrose and Rowan then get things started off.

The Shield get the upper hand on Harper in the corner until he turns it around on Seth Rollins. Rowan gets back into the ring and continues to beat down Rollins, until Seth can get in and make the tag to Ambrose who gets in and takes control.

They go to commercial with the six men staring each other down in the ring.

Back from the break, Harper has the offense going on Ambrose before Dean fights back for a bit.

After some back and forth, Rollins hits another dive on the outside to Harper. BREAKING: Rollins is amazing. But, Harper gets the momentum back and hits a dive of his own, sending Rollins over the table.

Bray gets in the ring now and takes control until, eventually, all hell breaks loose on the outside.

Reigns hits the ring and begins to clear house. Before going for the Superman punch, all six start battling again. Rollins and Ambrose hit the double suicide dive.

Reigns hits the Superman punch on Bray and the Shield circle. Evolution music hits and they make their way to the ring. ANOTHER suicide dive by Ambrose and Rollins.

Roman then hits the punch on HHH, but Bray hits Sister Abigail for the win.

Winners: The Wyatt Family

After the match, Evolution gets in the ring and start to tear apart the Shield. Orton hits the DDT on Rollins. HHH hits the Pedigree on Reigns, but he counters, only to eat an RKO from Orton. Now Hunter hits the Pedigree. Evolution then hits the triple power bomb on Reigns to end the show.
