As far as 0-2 pitches go, Chris Tillman of the Baltimore Orioles probably wishes he could have this one back.
Evan Longoria strode to the plate with one man on. Tillman left his two-strike pitch up and over the plate and Longoria barreled it for the home run to give the Tampa Bay Rays an early lead.
It was Longoria’s fourth home run of the season. Overall he is batting .276/.333/.409 so far this season. He and the Rays are trying to come on strong, winning three of their last four games. The good news for them is the fact that no other team in the AL East has separated itself. So even with some tough injury luck in the rotation and a bad start, Joe Maddon and his crew are still poised to be contenders in 2014.
