Former New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera has pocketed just about every award conceivable for his contributions to both the team and Major League Baseball, with Hall of Fame inductee soon to come.
But before he heads to Coooperstown, Rivera will be able to take a stroll down Rivera Avenue, just outside Yankee Stadium.
Via SI.com, WNBC sports reporter Bruce Beck tweeted a photo of the Rivera and fans gathered below the street sign bearing the Yankee great’s name.

The road, formerly named River Ave., was given Rivera’s name only one month after Major League Baseball announced the annual award given to the league’s top closers would be named after Rivera and Trevor Hoffman, who rank No. 1 and 2 in MLB all-time career saves, respectively.
