Michael Sam turns down opportunity to be on camera for NFL Draft

Once the top players in the 2014 NFL Draft class fly off of the board, former Missouri Tigers defensive end Michael Sam will be one of the story lines that every network will be following. Sam will attempt to become the first openly gay player to join an NFL team, and the networks were lining up hoping for the chance to follow him on draft day and show his reaction on TV.

Unfortunately for them, Sam wants no part of the distractions.

According to Mark J. Burns, Sam has declined offers from ESPN and the NFL Network to appear on camera during the draft.

It continues to show Sam is focusing solely on football and not looking to be a distraction which will help him in the eyes of many teams, but it would have been great to see his special moment captured on film.
