The Los Angeles Lakers are searching for a new head coach and that search is taking them all over the map from unemployed NBA coaches to the ranks of college. While it appears that some former NBA coaches currently out of jobs could be on the Lakers’  radar, their search is heavily focused on college basketball and trying to convince a titan of the game to make the leap to pro ball.

From Kevin Ollie to Roy Williams, the Lakers are basically asking anyone who’s anyone if they want the job — and that includes Duke Blue Devils legend Mike Krzyzewski.

Per Steve Kyler from Basketball Insiders:

"League sources said the Lakers made their usual run at Duke Head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who is not leaving Duke."

Why Krzyzewski would even think for half a minute about leaving Duke is beyond any sort of rational thinking, but it’s still worth a shot. You can’t have a door slammed in your face if you don’t open it first and while they were turned down, the Lakers are at the very least being extensive in trying to bring in a rock star name to succeed mike D’Antoni.
