In just a few short months on the job, new Penn State Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin has been making huge waves on the recruiting trail, even having the program at the top of the 247 Sports rankings at one point. While they did lose that distinction following Alabama’s huge spring weekend recently, they made a huge step back in the direction of the top with the commitment on Tuesday of 4-star dual-threat quarterback Brandon Wimbush.

Wimbush is a 6-2, 205-pound star from St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, New Jersey, a traditional recruiting hotbed for Penn State football. He had other offers on the table from the Miami Hurricanes, Boston College Eagles, Ohio State Buckeyes, and most recently Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
According to the 247 Composite Rankings, Wimbush is the fifth ranked dual-threat signal caller in the country and 159th overall. He becomes the 15th commitment for Franklin and the Nittany Lions in the 2015 class as the program continues to move forward.
