West Virginia football recruiting: 3-star RB Alex Anderson commits to Mountaineers

Miramar High School down in south Florida has been very kind to the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Former Mountaineers and current New York Jets’ quarterback Geno Smith is a Miramar alumn as is former wide receiver Stedman Bailey, who is currently with the St. Louis Rams.

The Mountaineers also hired Damon Cogdell to their coaching staff. He was the head football coach and athletic director at Miramar. Cogdell was a linebacker at West Virginia.

Miramar wide receiver Kahlil Lewis is currently committed to the Mountaineers.

On Monday, they added their second Miramar commitment for the class of 2015 when 3-star running back Alex Anderson gave his pledge to the Mountaineers.

The 6’0, 184-pounder is ranked as the country’s 50th-best running back prospect, the 77th-best overall prospect in the state of Florida and the 638th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Anderson chose the Mountaineers over offers from the Boston College Eagles, Cincinnati Bearcats, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Louisville Cardinals, North Carolina State Wolfpack and Wisconsin Badgers, among others.

He is the 11th commitment for the Mountaineers.
