Yankees activate Brendan Ryan, DL Michael Pineda

The New York Yankees have made a couple of roster moves to have a player make their 2014 debut.

Brendan Ryan, who has been on the disabled list since the beginning of the season with a pinched nerve in his back, is being activated on Tuesday. In order to make room on the 25-man roster, they re-instated pitcher Michael Pineda and immediately put him on the disabled list. Pineda suffered a strained upper back muscle while throwing a bullpen session during his suspension. He had been serving a ten-game suspension for two pine-tar incidents.

Ryan will add some defensive help to the Yankees while allowing Brian Roberts and Derek Jeter to have some DH time.
