The Civil Rights game has been an annual event for Major League Baseball since 2007, celebrating the history of Civil Rights in the United States. It used to signify the end of Spring Training, but since 2009, it has been made into a regular season game.
This year, Houston will play host for the Civil Rights game and the Baltimore Orioles will come in to face the Astros. As a way of celebrating, both teams will wear throwback jerseys, representing both cities’ Negro League teams. Houston will wear the uniform of the Houston Eagles, and the Orioles will represent the Baltimore Elite Giants.
Darren Rovell of ESPN and ABC Sports tweeted out a picture of the uniforms the two teams will be wearing.
