Dallas Stars coach charged with assault

A Dallas Stars assistant coach is in trouble with the law after being arrested last week after a domestic dispute at his home.

James Patrick, 50, has been charged with assault after allegedly shoving his girlfriend during an argument regarding what was in Patrick’s cell phone, the Dallas Morning News reports. According to the police report, Patrick returned home at 1:20am on April 30 smelling of alcohol and covered in vomit. His girlfriend then confronted Patrick after finding “inappropriate text messages” from another woman on his phone.

The two then began to wrestle over the phone, and Patrick grabbed his girlfriend by the throat before pushing her face into the bathroom faucet.

Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill released a statement via the Morning News regarding Patrick’s arrest.

“We’re aware of the incident and have spoken to James regarding the matter. We’re confident that the authorities will find an appropriate resolution to the situation. We will have no further comment at this time.”
