At this point, it would take a minor miracle for the Diamondbacks to climb out of the hole they’re in. J.J. Putz might not be that miracle, but at least there is some good news for Arizona fans.
Nick Piecoro of Arizona Central Sports says that manager Kirk Gibson informed the media Putz had an MRI that showed nothing more than some mild irritation in his forearm.
Putz was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday and Gibson says that the 37 year old will be shut down for seven to ten days before beginning a throwing program that will likely include a rehab stint somewhere.
Putz had made 13 appearances for the Diamondbacks, earning a win and posting a 5.40 ERA in 10 innings. He served as the Arizona closer for 2011-2012, but has been relegated to mostly setup duties since last season.
