Early Conn Smythe Trophy Candidates

The NHL playoffs are in the middle of the conference semifinals, which means that players are padding their profiles with the hopes of being award with the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player of the postseason.

Sports Illustrated reporter Sarah Kwak profiles a number of players currently making a strong case for the award should their team make a run to the finals.

Kwak names obvious players like Ryan Getzlaf and Jonathan Toews as early candidates for the trophy, but also gives fans reasons why Montreal’s P.K. Subban and Los Angeles’ Anze Kopitar are also making a strong case for the award this postseason.
