Google Maps has largely taken both the Android and iPhone GPS market over. Now, thanks to a new update, the app will, almost assuredly, increase its reach.
The new update features lane guidance, Uber integration and better offline maps as part of the experience. Google detailed the update as a whole, and made sure to pack it full of new features.
With lane guidance, users can now expected to be directed by Google Maps as to which lane they will need to stay in. The guidance will be focused around voice commands instructing drivers which lane is most beneficial for their next move. The lane guidance will be usable by drivers in the US, Canada, and Japan.
The offline use of Google Maps has also been revamped. Now, more than ever before, the ease of saving maps for use offline will be heightened. The Uber integration will play off users who have already downloaded the Uber app and will help in comparing transit options.
New filters for restaurants and businesses have also been added to Google Maps; allowing users to search for the specifics they are looking for. On the transit side, users have long been able to use “arrive by” or “depart at” options, now Google Maps will also integrate train schedules.
The Google Maps app update is available on both the iTunes App Store and Google Play now.
