The 2014 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and Mike Mayock is releasing his one and only mock draft of the year the night before the first round. We got a sneak peak at his top 15 already, and it surprisingly didn’t include Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.

In the special airing on Wednesday night on NFL Network, Mayock revealed that he thinks the Cowboys will draft the sliding Johnny Manziel with their No. 16 pick.

“Cowboys are further away from winning the division than people think, says he doesn’t think Jerry could pass up Johnny Manziel,” Mayock said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News.

Mayock also thinks the Cowboys would have “a Manziel sub package from Day One.

It is an interesting choice, and one that would make some Cowboys fans excited. The Cowboys have remained steadfast in their commitment to Tony Romo with head coach Jason Garrett and owner/general manager Jerry Jones deflecting questions about Manziel earlier in the week.

But could Jones resist taking Manziel, a Romo-esque quarterback, if he was there at No. 16, especially with the uncertainties surrounding Romo’s back.
