The NFL Draft is right around the corner and while it seems that teams have things figured out, we’re learning that they really don’t. While the players seems to be locked into certain areas of the draft order, the teams who will be picking them are scrambling to trade up or down — or are just making it seem like they are to throw other front offices off their scent.
Down in Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers are sitting at No. 7 overall but have been thrust into rumors that they want to trade up to No. 2 in order to snag Johnny Manziel. While this may be true, there are conflicting reports about who the Buccaneers want, even if they don’t trade up.
Most experts have Mike Evans penciled in for the Bucs but according to Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net, head coach Lovie Smith is pulling for Pittsburgh defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
Getting Manziel is nice, but grabbing another big body to stuff on the middle of the defensive line alongside Gerald McCoy is an even better idea. Plus, the Buccaneers may be able to trade down to get him, which means more picks to move back up and get a guy.
Either way, the Buccaneers have options, and less than 48 hours until the draft begins they still have no idea what they want.
