TNT analyst and former NBA player Steve Kerr is a hot coaching candidate around the league, but there seems to be a leader emerging to land his services. At a time where the Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz are potential landing spots for Kerr, the New York Knicks are reportedly the favorites to sign the former guard.

According to ESPN.com, the Warriors believe they have a “legit shot” to land Kerr, but the Knicks are believed to be in the lead.

That won’t stop the Warriors from continuing their pursuit.

Ian Begley writes:

"A source with knowledge of the Warriors’ thinking told ESPN New York on Wednesday evening that the team believes it has a “legit shot” to land Kerr as its next head coach. The organization is hoping that Kerr’s ties to president Rick Welts will “bring [Kerr] over since they are so close.”Kerr has several ties to the Warriors organization, including strong relationships with owner Joe Lacob, son Kirk Lacob (who works in Golden State’s front office) and Welts, with whom Kerr worked closely while general manager of the Phoenix Suns."

While you have to admire the Warriors efforts and attempts at landing Kerr, it will be difficult to keep him from joining Phil Jackson in New York.

“Unless something changes,” a source told ESPN, “the relationship with Jackson is a very big part of this, and that’s the way it looks like it will go.”

It will be interesting to see where Kerr eventually lands, but as things currently stand he will end up with the team who was considered the favorite from Day 1 and the first team to throw their hat in the mix.
