It would seem as if Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is getting some company on ABC. Moments ago, we told you about ABC’s decision to bring back Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a second season. Now, we are also learning that the network, a subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company, has picked up the newest Marvel series Agent Carter as well.
If you are versed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you will remember Agent Carter well. We met young Peggy Carter for the first time in Captain America: The First Avenger.
The series is going to be based off of the Marvel one-shot of the same name, which accompanied the Blu-Ray release of Iron Man 3 when it hit store in September of last year.
Here is a quick look at the synopsis for the new series courtesy of Deadline.
It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark, all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers.”
As we told you back in January, Reaper creators Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas have been brought on to the project and will serve as Executive Producers/Showrunners of the series. According to Deadline, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have penned the script for the series and will also be executive producing alongside Marvel’s Jeph Loeb.
Currently, there is no premiere date set for the show; however, once S.H.I.E.L.D. wraps up next week, one would assume that they would begin work on the next season, and the start of Agent Carter, which of course means that there will be more details to be had at the point.
