Although the Dallas Mavericks will be chasing some of the biggest names in the league, such as New York Knicks’ forward Carmelo Anthony, in free agency, they have already expressed their desire to bring back some of their own veteran free agents.

One of those free agents is point guard Devin Harris and he has made it known he wants to return.

“Obviously I don’t really know where [the negotiations] will go,” Harris told Dwain Price of The Star-Telegram. “My intent is to come back, but like I said, only time will tell. I would rather not [sign a one-year deal]. It’s kind of tough to do, especially coming off surgery.”

Harris also told reporters that he was most interested in winning, but that money would also play a factor in his next move.

Mavericks’ President Donnie Nelson told reporters he wants Harris back.

“We look forward to Devin being a permanent fixture within the Mavericks’ organization,” Nelson said. “We hope that will be the case.”

Harris averaged 7.9 points, 4.5 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game in the regular season and 11.4 points, 3.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game in the postseason.
