Youngster Jordan Spieth impressed a lot when he was in the running for the green jacket at the 2014 The Masters tournament. He faltered midway through the round and Bubba Watson was able to build a gap and eventually win his second green jacket.
Spieth seems to have recovered and handled the defeat well and is currently challenging at The Players Championship and sits in third place through six holes. While it isn’t a major tournament, it is about as close as a “regular” tournament can be. It has a large $10 million purse and is played on the iconic TPC Sawgrass course in Florida.
Spieth so far is 7-under-par for the tournament and 2-under for the second round on Friday. He still has a lot of golf to play on Friday so that could change, and he’d need a stronger finish than that to make up ground between him and the tournament leader Martin Kaymer, who is sitting 12-under for the tournament and has finished his second round.
Right now Spieth is still five strokes behind the tournament leading Kaymer.
